It is subpoenaed by a court, or disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law; or<\/strong><\/p>\n 2. Failure to disclose the information would, in the reasonable belief of the therapist, place a client or another person at serious risk to life, health or safety; or<\/strong><\/p>\n 3. It would assist in ascertaining the whereabouts of an individual reported as a missing person; or<\/strong><\/p>\n 4. There are reasonable grounds to believe an offence may have been committed; or<\/strong><\/p>\n 5. The client\u2019s prior approval has been obtained to:<\/strong><\/p>\n a. Provide a written report to another agency or professional, e.g., a GP or a lawyer; or<\/strong><\/p>\n b. Discuss the material with another person, e.g. a parent, employer, health provider, or third-party funder; or<\/strong><\/p>\n c. Disclose to another professional or agency (e.g. your GP) and disclosure of the client’s personal information to that third party is for a purpose which is directly related to the primary purpose for which the client’s personal information was collected; or<\/strong><\/p>\n d. Disclose the information in any other way.<\/strong><\/p>\n Additionally, it is a principle of St Paul\u2019s Counselling Centre that a client\u2019s referring medical practitioner (and\/or other nominated health professional(s)) be kept informed of the client\u2019s progress while attending St Paul\u2019s Counselling Centre. To this end, written reports of treatment progress will be made to a client\u2019s referring medical\/health practitioner and verbal reports may also be made. All written and verbal correspondence will be treated confidentially.<\/p>\n Where a client’s mental health services are to be paid in part or in full by another organisation (such as Medicare, the National Disability Insurance Agency, a private health insurer, or some other insurer) then that organisation may require the therapist to provide information including dates and times of attendance and summary reports regarding treatment progress.<\/p>\n A client’s personal information is not disclosed to overseas recipients, unless the client consents or such disclosure is otherwise required by law.
