Appointments, Sessions, Cancellations and No-Shows

Making an Appointment

Appointments

Currently all appointments are by Telehealth only.

Appointments can be made with a Psychologist, Social Worker and Counsellor with and without a Medical Practitioner’s referral.

Telehealth appointments are available to people in regional and rural locations within Australia and Internationally. Please contact the Centre to discuss your eligibility.

The Centre operates by appointment only and welcomes clients of all ages, genders, sexualities and faiths.

For further information about appointment fees, please see the Fees and Rebates page.

Sessions

All SESSIONS are 50 MINUTES.

Planning Prior to your Session

Please Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the appointment to allow time to complete some initial paperwork.

First Appointment

In the initial session(s) the therapist will focus on collecting the information needed to understand your situation and any difficulties you have been experiencing and to develop an appropriate and individualised treatment plan.

The clinician will ask you about your own goals for treatment and obtain information about any other treatments you may have had in the past.

During your first appointment, your clinician will make arrangements with you for your subsequent appointments.

Subsequent sessions

Subsequent sessions will focus on helping you achieve your goals and will be tailored to your unique situation.

Payment

Fees are payable on the day.

Cancellation and No-Show

Clients are requested to ensure that appointments are booked for a suitable time as the full fee will be charged in the event of a No-Show or a cancellation within 2 working days of the appointment time.

This fee is payable prior to the start of the next session, but will be waived if St Paul’s Counselling Centre can find someone else who can take the appointment.

Please note that some schemes (including Medicare) DO NOT cover cancellations and no-shows.

St Paul’s Counselling Centre management is prepared to waive the fee, on a case by case basis, when there are sufficient extenuating circumstances. Please discuss this with your therapist who will forward it for management consideration.
